DB2 System Administrator

We are seeking a skilled DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in a long-term, full-time remote capacity. As a key member of the team, you will manage, optimize, and support our DB2 database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across critical business systems. The role requires extensive experience with DB2 and expertise in technologies such as HADR, Pacemaker, backup and recovery strategies, and DB2 auditing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • DB2 Database Administration: Administer and manage DB2 databases in a production environment, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • HADR Configuration & Management: Set up and maintain DB2 High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions to ensure minimal downtime and protect critical data.
  • Pacemaker DB2 Clustering: Implement and manage Pacemaker for DB2 database clustering, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Backup and Recovery Strategies: Develop and execute robust backup and recovery strategies for DB2 databases to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • DB2 Logging and Configurations: Configure and manage DB2 logging and system-level configurations to optimize database performance and reliability.
  • DB2Audit and Security: Implement and maintain DB2Audit for user activity logging, and ensure the security of databases by enforcing appropriate access controls and security protocols.
  • DB2 Native Monitoring Tools: Utilize DB2 native monitoring tools to monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal system performance.
  • Problem Analysis & Troubleshooting: Conduct proactive and reactive troubleshooting for DB2-related issues, including database performance problems, connectivity issues, and system bottlenecks.
  • Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform regular DB2 maintenance tasks (e.g., updates, patches, performance tuning) and plan for DB2 version upgrades to ensure system integrity and performance.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • DB2 Expertise: In-depth experience with DB2 Database Administration, including configuration, maintenance, and optimization of DB2 environments.
  • HADR Expertise: Hands-on experience with DB2 High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) to ensure continuous data availability.
  • Pacemaker Clustering: Proven experience working with Pacemaker in a DB2 environment for setting up and managing database clusters.
  • Backup and Recovery: Strong knowledge of DB2 backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity.
  • Logging & Configuration: Expertise in DB2 logging, database configurations, and performance tuning at the system and application level.
  • DB2Audit & Security: Solid experience in setting up DB2Audit, managing user permissions, and enforcing DB2 security policies.
  • DB2 Native Monitoring Tools: Proficiency with DB2 native monitoring tools to monitor database health and diagnose performance issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving DB2 database issues.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams, providing support to developers and other IT professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years experience as a DB2 Database Administrator.
  • Location: Remote.

Additional Information:

  • This is a long-term, full-time remote position requiring 5 working days per week.
  • On-call and weekend work is expected (no night or late shifts).
  • The maximum rate will be discussed based on your experience.
